William Tracey Group in finals of National Recycling Awards 2011
Leading recycling and resource management business, the William Tracey Group, has been shortlisted as a finalist in the National Recycling Awards 2011!
The past year has seen the William Tracey Group embark on a number of major projects, including the introduction of a food recycling service which will convert organics waste into renewable energy via the UK’s largest Anaerobic Digestion Plant.

NSDesign secures hat-trick at prestigious awards ceremony
E-COMMERCE company NSDesign is celebrating after securing a hat-trick of wins at the 2011 RAR (Recommended Agency Register) awards.
The Hillington-based social networking experts secured three esteemed accolades at the award ceremony in London: Best in Value for Money, Best in Digital and Best in Client Service
The company was also awarded runner up position in the Grand Prix Award, and was shortlisted for the Best in Creativity/Innovation and the Best in Effectiveness categories.
The RAR Awards recognise service excellence from marketing companies across the United Kingdom.
This is the second consecutive year that NSDesign has been awarded the RAR for Best in Value for Money. Read More

Slates and stones could be the key to Paisley Abbey £2million appeal
THE good people of Paisley will be asked to sponsor roof slates and garden stones as part of the £2million Paisley Abbey appeal.
Abbey fundraisers have come up with the idea so that a large number of people can contribute at a relatively small cost.
The Paisley Daily Express announced on Monday that plans had been drawn up to bring the 12th century building and its facilities closer to the heart of the community.
And the paper immediately kicked off the fundraising with a £5,000 pledge from our readers’ fund on Monday – much to the delight of Rev Alan Birss. Read More

Davis Cup coming to Braehead this Summer
The Lawn Tennis Association (LTA) has announced that the Davis Cup by BNP Paribas against Luxembourg will take place in Scotland at the Braehead Arena. The tie will take place from July 8-10 2011.
Leon Smith, captain of the AEGON GB Davis Cup team, said: “We’ve seen before that Braehead is a great venue for Davis Cup tennis. I know we’ll get fantastic support, and I’m confident that a hard court surface will suit our players well as we look to take another step towards promotion.” Read More |

Scotwest Continuing to Make a Difference in Renfrewshire
After a successful first quarter, one of Scotland’s biggest credit unions, Scotwest, is this week once again encouraging applications from its Renfrewshire members for its new community fund.
The Making a Difference fund allows the 25,000 Scotwest members throughout the West of Scotland to apply for small grants (max £250) to help community events, projects, groups and activities in their own local area which they have an interest in.
Five worthy causes benefited from the first round of applications, with money being granted to organisations including the St Roch’s Lunch club in Royston. Read More

PMCL Win Design & Build Contract
Project Management & Construction Ltd have been awarded a £880k contract to design and build a new office and warehouse at Broxburn for SA Equipment (Sales) Ltd who are suppliers of portable lighting, power distribution and ventilation solutions across a variety of sectors including the oil and gas industries.
This project was won in competition and the outcome was negotiated over a period of 5 months. Work is due to commence on site early May. We will be working closely with our design team and Employers Agent The Building Consultancy of Bristol to deliver this project for SA Equipment. |

New office underlines bto Edinburgh objective
Leading Scottish law firm bto solicitors has underlined its objective to further develop its east of Scotland business with a move to prestigious modern office premises in Edinburgh. The firm announced that it intends to move into split level offices at Edinburgh Quay in early summer 2011.
The new Fountainbridge premises, within the city’s financial district, are more than double the size of bto’s existing Edinburgh office. They will give bto greater flexibility and provide the opportunity to increase the firm’s overall capacity by at least a third. Read More |

Unexpected Fall in Inflation May Buy Time Before Interest Rate Rise
Commenting on the news that CPI inflation has fallen from 4.4% to 4%, Liz Cameron, Chief Executive of Scottish Chambers of Commerce, said:
“This fall in the rate of inflation is welcome and may buy a little more time before the Bank of England move to raise interest rates. With economic data continuing to give conflicting messages and January’s VAT rise still having a significant impact on headline inflation, we need evidence that the economy is firmly back on a growth path before interest rates begin to be adjusted back up to a more normal level.” |

Bank of England Must Look Before They Leap
Commenting on the decision by the Bank of England’s Monetary Policy Committee to keep interest rates on hold at 0.5% for a further month, Liz Cameron, Chief Executive of Scottish Chambers of Commerce, said:
“Following weeks of conflicting economic data, it is unsurprising that the Monetary Policy Committee have held fire on interest rates once again. Although inflation remains high in relation to the government target, this does not yet seem to be fuelling rising wage demands." Read More

SCC comment on British Chambers Economic Survey
Commenting on the publication today (5 April) of British Chambers of Commerce’s Quarterly Economic Survey for the first quarter of 2011, Liz Cameron, Chief Executive of Scottish Chambers of Commerce, said:
“From a Scottish perspective, this survey reveals that our manufacturing businesses are continuing to do well against a challenging economic backdrop. In particular, exports remain strong and the recovery is still heavily reliant on international trade. Our service sector appears less buoyant, indicating that consumer demand is still subdued.
